Where can i call or find out how to get a grant to start an oil & tire change business?Where can i call or find out how to get a grant to start an oil & tire change business? Me and a friend been looking to start a buisness for awhile now and i have no money to come up front to even do this.how can i apply for a grant to get started? i do know wht to do and how to go about getting this business started its the money i need to get a jump start. First thing, you won't be able to get a grant to get started. You will have to talk to some banks about getting a loan in order to get started. Before you do that you need to figure out what you expect to bring in and how much you can spend on a building and equipment. Find your local SBA office, take classes (free), then write a business plan, use the SBA contacts and present your plan. There is another option, if there is a shop in your area having a hard time making it, approach them with the idea of taking over with some kind of payment plan IF you know how to run the business (all aspects) Don't. Just don't. There is no profit either in tires or in oil changes. Auto parts : Radiator Fan Acura 1995 . Radiator Flush Kit Alfa Romeo 1996 . Radiator Hose Audi 1997 . Radiator Mount BMW 1998 . Saturn . How to Make a '67 Mustang FasterFord redesigned the Mustang in 1967 to make it larger and wider and give it a concave tailgate panel. A new engine rated at 320 horsepower was also introduced. Mustang enthusiasts often look for ways to make their classic cars go faster. A few relatively simple modifications to the car can accomplish this task. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need High flow exhaust Cold air intake filter Racing tires Automotive tools Step by Step : 1 Install a high flow exhaust system that expels the engine gases more quickly and efficiently than the original system. Also, install a wider diameter muffler so the vehicle has more room to expel the air, which will increase its power and make it go faster more quickly. Changing the muffler will usually change the sound of the engine, making it more noisy when you hit the gas. 2 Replace the standard air filter with a cold air intake filter that pulls more air through the engine and keeps it cooler. A cool engine performs better and will make the Mustang go faster. 3 Replace the stock tires with racing grade tires that adhere to the road surface better and give you better traction so that the car will go faster. Tire pressure is also important. You may want to experiment to get the pressure right, depending on the temperature of the climate where you live, but generally 9 PSI (pounds per square inch) is a good place to start. 4 Move the battery from the Mustang's engine compartment to its trunk to get a better weight bias. More weight in the back will give you better traction. This modification is more complicated than some of the others, but is worth the effort because it will make the car go faster. Tips & Warnings Upgrade the suspension so that the car can handle the increased speed that the engine now produces.Make sure that the brakes are properly maintained and can stop the car safely and quickly at faster speeds.
Saturn . How to Change the Exhaust Manifold on a 1995 LumniaThe exhaust manifold, also known as a header, on the Chevy Lumina collects the exhaust gases from the engine cylinders and diverts them through the exhaust pipe. If the manifold develops cracks, you will need to change it or the efficiency of the engine will drop. This is a project that you can do yourself, so there is no need to take the Lumina to an automotive repair shop. You can expect it to take you about three hours to complete the project. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Socket set Marker Masking tape Wrench set Automobile jack Jack stand Wheel chocks Step by Step : 1 Disconnect the negative cable from the battery using a wrench to loosen the terminal nut. Disconnect the wiring harness from the oxygen sensor. Turn the belt tensioner using a wrench and relieve the tension from the serpentine belt. Note the proper routing of the belt if the diagram is missing. 2 Remove the serpentine belt from the Lumina engine. Remove the bolts from the alternator using a socket and ratchet and take it off the engine. Place the wheel chocks behind the rear wheels of the Lumina. Lift the front of the car with the automobile jack. Place the jack stand under the Lumina near the jacking point and raise it to the frame. 3 Remove the bolts retaining the exhaust pipe to the manifold using a wrench. Remove the jack stand from under the Lumina and lower the car to the ground. Remove the oil fill tube from the engine block using a wrench. Pull the tube away from the engine. Remove the nuts from the exhaust manifold using a socket and ratchet. Remove the manifold from the engine. 4 Remove the manifold gasket and discard it. Install a new gasket and exhaust manifold. Secure the nuts using a socket and ratchet. Install the oil fill tube and tighten the nut with a wrench. Raise the Lumina with the automobile jack. Place the jack stand under the car near the jacking point and raise it to the frame. 5 Crawl under the Lumina and connect the exhaust pipe to the manifold. Tighten the bolts with a wrench. Remove the jack stand from under the Lumina. Lower the car to the ground. Install the alternator and tighten the bolts with a socket and ratchet. Install the serpentine belt according to the diagram you made, or the one under the engine hood if present. 6 Place tension on the serpentine belt by turning the belt tensioner with a wrench. Connect the electrical connection to the oxygen sensor. Connect the negative cable to the battery and tighten the terminal nut with a wrench. Tips & Warnings Wear a pair of safety goggles when working under the Chevy Lumina to prevent injury to your eyes from dirt and foreign objects. Make sure the engine is completely cool before you begin this project or it could result in serious burns. The best thing to do is to allow the car to sit overnight before you begin the project. *To keep the water in the cooling system from boiling or freezing, the water is mixed with coolant/antifreeze (which, in the interest of brevity, I just call "coolant"). Most coolants contain about 95 percent ethylene glycol, a chemical that stops water from freezing or boiling, even in extreme temperatures. (Ethylene glycol is toxic; there are nontoxic coolants that contain propylene glycol instead. See the sidebar "Keeping coolant out of the mouths of babes and small animals" in Chapter 14.) In addition to the ethylene glycol, coolant also contains rust, corrosion, and foaming inhibitors, so coolant does more than just keep the water in the system in a liquid state: It also helps to prevent the formation of rust on the metal surfaces of the engine and the radiator, lubricates the water pump, and keeps the liquid from foaming as it circulates through the system. Since the early 1960s, auto manufacturers have designed the cooling systems of most vehicles for a 50/50 mixture of ethylene glycol and water, which is still generally considered the proper proportion of coolant to water for the cooling system of most vehicles. (I usually refer to the coolant and water mixture as "liquid" in the rest of this chapter.) Today's engines require specially formulated coolants that are safe for aluminum components. Also, some manufacturers are using a new coolant called Dex-cool that can last about twice as long as other coolants. If your cooling system is operating properly, you shouldn't have to keep adding liquid to it. Chapter 3 shows you how to check the level and condition of the liquid in the cooling system, and Chapter 14 shows you how to add liquid or flush the system and replace the liquid in it. The coolant recovery system A coolant recovery system is just a clear plastic container with two little hoses coming out of the cap (see Figure 8-2). One hose leads to the radiator, and the other serves as an overflow pipe for the container. The container holds an extra supply of water and coolant, in case the system loses any. When your cooling system heats up and starts to overflow, the liquid pours back into the recovery container instead of pouring out of the radiator overflow pipe and onto the ground. When the system cools off, the pressure drops and the liquid is drawn out of the container and back into the radiator. This process not only saves you coolant, but it also protects animals and children from sampling puddles of the toxic stuff. 162 Part II: What Makes It Go? Figure 8-2: A coolant recovery system. 392

Most recovery systems are considered "sealed" because you can check whether your coolant needs changing — and add water and coolant — by opening the cap on the container. You can also check the level of liquid in the system by seeing whether it reaches the fill level shown on the side of the container. (For instructions on adding liquid to a sealed system safely, see "Using a coolant reservoir system" in Chapter 14.) The radiator pressure cap To further retard the boiling point of the liquid in the cooling system, the entire system is placed under pressure. This pressure generally runs between Saturn . As the pressure increases, the boiling point rises as well. This combination of pressure plus coolant gives the liquid in your cooling system the capability to resist boiling at temperatures that can rise as high as 250 degrees Fahrenheit or more in some new vehicles. To keep the lid on the pressure in the system, and to provide a convenient place to add water and coolant, each radiator has a removable radiator pressure cap on either its radiator filler hole or its coolant recovery system. The pressure cap has two valves: a pressure valve and a vacuum valve. The pressure valve maintains a precise amount of pressure on the liquid in the system. The vacuum valve allows the liquid to travel back into the radiator from the recovery reservoir when the engine cools down. .Chapter 8: The Cooling System Up Close 1 /.! ? If you have no coolant recovery system Today, most vehicles come with coolant recovery systems. If your vehicle lacks such a system and it overheats, you'll often notice liquid pouring out from under the car—especially if you're using the air conditioner on a very hot day. This liquid — which is usually colored and sometimes has white foam on it — is the water/ coolant mixture pouring out of the overflow pipe on your radiator. Because this liquid is toxic to small children and animals, be sure to clean up thoroughly, following the instructions in Chapter 14. Saturn . If this pressure exceeds the level of pressure that your radiator cap is built to withstand and you don't have a recovery system, the liquid in the system bypasses the radiator cap and escapes through an overflow pipe located near the fill hole. This pipe provides a safe way for your vehicle to "let off steam." Of course, if this kind of overflow occurs often, your car loses enough water and coolant to substantially lower the level in the cooling system. You have to keep adding water, and eventually, the level of coolant protection is inadequate. To prevent this problem, you can buy and install a coolant recovery kit yourself by following the instructions in "Using a coolant recovery system" in Chapter 14. Pressure caps are relatively inexpensive, but if you have a cap that isn't working properly, or if you have the wrong type of cap, you'll be amazed at the amount of trouble it can cause. For example, if the gasket (rubber ring) inside the cap isn't working, the pressure in the system will escape, allowing the liquid to boil at a lower temperature. A modern cooling system that's been designed to operate normally at temperatures over 212 degrees Fahrenheit, and that is filled with liquid and in perfect condition, will still continually boil over if the radiator cap isn't operating efficiently. That boiling liquid will be forced into the overflow system, and your vehicle's engine will overheat. This can cause an inconvenient highway breakdown and possible danger to your engine. If your vehicle overheats on the highway, Chapter 21 can get you cooled down safely. The section "If Your Car Is a Chronic Hothead" in Chapter 14 offers remedies for other overheating problems. Although most vehicles come equipped with a safety pressure cap, which features a little lever that releases the pressure before you remove the cap, some older vehicles have a cap that lacks this feature. If you have one of these caps, replace it with a safety pressure cap immediately. Doing so can keep you from burning yourself if you have to remove the cap while there's still some pressure in the system.
